The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, and son have escaped an assassination attempt.
According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Uche Anichukwu, the incident occurred at about 4:00 am on Tuesday at their Apo Quarters residence in Abuja.
The armed men were said to have discreetly evaded the security and entered his house.
Thereafter, they took hold of his son, and commanded him to lead them to the Senator’s bedroom.
While in the senator’s bedroom, a struggle ensued after which some of the men escaped.
One of them was, however, arrested.
The arrested member of the gang has refused to divulge any information on the operation and has been handed over to the police.
The lawmaker had also narrowly escaped an assassination attempt on his life in Abuja on November 17, 2015.
