[BREAKING] Police men in Maiduguri protest none Payment of Salary

Police officers on special duty in Borno state are currently protesting in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The officers, deployed to help fight insurgency in the state, took over some streets on Monday morning, in protest of the non-payment of their allowances.

It was gathered that they are owed over six months of allowances.

The officers, who barricaded a major highway in the city, shot into the air, causing commotion in the area.

The development also led to the disruption of vehicular movements in the area as most commuters avoided the highway.

The aggrieved officers have reportedly not been paid none of their allowances since they were deployed to Borno in January.

They were seen armed and matching towards the command headquarters to report their grievances.

Some of them who spoke to reporters complained of the “inhuman” treatment they have been subjected to since their deployment.

Jimoh Moshood, spokesman of the Nigeria police police, is yet to respond to the situation regarding the non-payment of the allowances, when this report was filed.
