The Former governorship aspirant in Ekiti and a member of the seventh House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, and one other person have been shot.

According to Channels TV, the incident which was described as an accidental discharge, occurred on Friday, June 1, during the takeoff campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi.

The gunshots were said to have emanated from the gun of an unknown gunman kitted fully in Mopol uniform at the rally at the APC Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti to usher Adeyeye to the APC fold, PM News reports. A source speaking to PM News said: “The man was at the front of the podium and was hit severally by bullets. He was already in comma and has lost so much blood before he was rushed to the hospital.” In a report by The Punch, Bamidele has been rushed to an unknown hospital for treatment, while the yet-to-be-identified second victim is feared dead.
